Grilled Cheese Sandwich Burger
Can't decide between a grilled cheese sandwich or a burger for dinner? Why not have both with this Grilled Cheese Sandwich Burger recipe from yours truly and sponsored by Omaha Steaks.
GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH BURGER
Ingredients
4 8oz. Omaha Steaks Private Reserve Angus burger patties
2 tsp. Kosher salt
Ground black pepper
4 tbsp. butter
16 slices white bread
8 slices cheddar cheese
8 tomato slices, approximately ¼ inch thick
8 slices precooked bacon
Instructions
Prepare grill for high heat cooking. As the grill preheats, place one slice of cheese between 2 slices of bread and butter the outsides of the bread to create 8 cheese sandwiches. Season both sides of the burger patties liberally with salt and pepper. Make a small indentation in the center of each burger with your thumb (this will ensure that the burger maintains an even thickness and doesn’t plump up in the center while cooking). Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for approximately 4 minutes per side for medium rare (130-135 degrees internal temperature). As the burgers cook, place the cheese sandwiches on the grill and cook for approximately 2 minutes per side while pressing down on the sandwiches until they are lightly browned. Remove the burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches from the grill.
To assemble the burgers, place each burger patty on one grilled cheese sandwich, top with 2 slices of tomato, 2 slices of bacon, and an additional grilled cheese sandwich.
