Apple pie is a holiday favorite around my house but this recipe for grilled mini apple pies courtesy of HPBA BBQ and created by Island Grillstone, the company that brings the art of stone grilling to your backyard, is sure to take the top spot at our dessert table!
GRILLED MINI APPLE PIES
Ingredients
Filling:
2 sliced apples
½ cup butter
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
1 tbs flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
Crust:
2 pie crusts
1 egg white
Coarse sugar
Instructions
Preheat your grill to 375°F
Melt the butter in the skillet and add apples, cinnamon, flour and sugar. Cook for 8-10 minutes.
CAUTION: the skillet will be very hot. Always use oven mitts and potholders when handling it.
Unfold the pie crust and cut into 4 parts. Using pastry brush, apply egg wash on the sides. Spoon prepared apple filling on the top. Be careful to leave space around the edges to seal the mini pie.
Add 2 tbs of water to the egg white and whisk.
Line the edges of the quarter with egg wash. Cover with another quarter of pie crust and seal the edges with fork as shown in the video.
Brush with egg wash on the top of the pastry and sprinkle coarse sugar on the top.
Place the pies on the Island Grillstone and cook for 10-12 minutes.
