Can't decide between steak or shrimp for dinner? Why not have them both, courtesy of this grilled surf-and-turf kebab recipe from Zully Hernandez of the flavor packed Foodie Zoolee blog. Note that while the steak and shrimp can be combined on the skewers, Zully prefers to keep them separate as the cooking times vary.
GRILLED SURF AND TURF KEBABS
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
3 lb. steak skirt
1 lb. medium shrimp (31-40 ct)
1 red bell pepper
1 yellow bell pepper
1 orange bell pepper
Steak Marinade
1 cup KC Masterpiece Classic Steakhouse Marinade
½ cup barbecue sauce
1 tbsp. McCormick Grill Mates® Montreal Steak Seasoning
Shrimp Marinade
¼ cup butter or margarine, melted
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Cayenne pepper, to taste
Kosher salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare grill for medium-high heat cooking, approximately 400 degrees.
In a medium bowl, stir together shrimp marinade ingredients. In a small bowl, stir together steak marinade ingredients.
Devein and shell shrimp. Put in shrimp marinade bowl. Set aside.
Prep steak by cutting into 2-inch strips. Prep peppers by cutting into 1-2 inch pieces. Alternating, push protein and bell pepper pieces through skewers. Use 4 pieces of protein for each skewer.
Grill for 10-15 minutes, until shrimp begin to turn pink, and steak is cooked to desired level. Serve immediately.
