When it comes to game day eats, few dishes are better received than sliders. And for good reason as guests get to enjoy a burger that has been cooked to perfection while also saving room for the rest of your big game spread.
So what makes the perfect slider? It all begins with just the right beef -- meat that is high quality and contains just the right amount of fat (I prefer something close to an 80/20 meat-to-fat ratio for burgers and ground chuck certainly fits that bill).
As such, Grillocracy is turning to the beefiest of beef experts, aka the team at Certified Angus Beef, for their favorite slider recipe!
GAME DAY GRILLED SLIDERS
Recipe Created by Michael Ollier, Certified Angus Beef® brand
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds Certified Angus Beef® ground chuck
1 head bibb lettuce, washed and separated
1 small red onion, sliced in rings
1/4 cup whole cranberry jelly
12 mini knot rolls or mini burger buns, sliced in half
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Form ground chuck into twelve 2-ounce patties. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Grill on each side, cooking thoroughly (160°F internal temperature).
Build burgers by layering lettuce, red onion, patty and jelly on a bun. Skewer with a toothpick frill for easy handling.
Chef’s note: Mini burgers, or “sliders,” are all the rage and for good reason. If you prefer a larger burger, simply make four 6-ounce patties and use regular-sized buns. Either way, they pack big satisfaction in every bite!
