Every fourth Saturday in October, some of the finest teams from the US and abroad converge on Lynchburg, TN for one of the most prestigious barbecue contests in the world – The Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue. This year I was honored to serve as a judge for the fifth time, critiquing some of the finest BBQ from around the world.

Once there, teams compete in seven categories: Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder/Butts, Beef Brisket, Chicken, Dessert, Cook’s Choice (Home Cookin’ from the Homeland for internationals) and Jack Daniel’s Sauce. Winners will savor their share of more than $45,000 in cash and prizes.
